| Entering
tournaments: The first entries
to arrive in the B.A.G.S. office, either by mail, e.-mail or telephone,
will be accepted. Tournament reservations will not be confirmed.
If there is a problem with your entry, you will be contacted. Ten day's notice is usually sufficient to secure a weekend spot. Those not entered early enough to gain a spot, will be placed on an alternate list and will get a tournament spot, as soon as any withdrawals are received. Withdrawal policy: Provided that B.A.G.S. receives at least 48 hours notice before the first scheduled tee off time for the day, you may withdraw from the event without financial penalty. Some members have automatic entry into all B.A.G.S.' events, and inform B.A.G.S. only when they can't play. B.A.G.S. must give a field count to the courses, well in advance of the event, and are charged for that number. Entry Fees: Entry fees for each event include the normal green's fee, and the player's contribution to the tournament prize fund. The cost varies depending on the course being played and whether the event is on a weekday or weekend. Carts are an optional extra, however; some courses require cart usage, and at those courses the cart charge is included in the entry fee.Tournament scoring : All net players will play the stableford scoring system using 90% of their course-adjusted handicap. This system awards points based on the player's net score on a hole. I. E.: net par =2 points, net bogey=1 point, net birdie=3points. Net double bogey or worse is 0 points and players are required to pick up at this point.Prize fund: At most tournaments the prize fund consists of BAGS credit vouchers, which are good for tournaments, deposits, or memberships. Some courses require us to use Pro shop gift certificates. However, as always, a $5 cash sweep is available to members, who wish to wager on themselves. The gross division has an optional $10 sweep. Important Notes : B.A.G.S. members play in all weather conditions. The only time a tournament iscanceled, is when the course is closed or deemed unplayable by the course staff or B.A.G.S.' official. If in doubt, please call the golf course directly. All tournament rounds should be completed in 4.5 hours. The Boston Amateur Golf Society, is a member only club; however, members may bring guests to the private clubs and weekday tournaments. Guests are not eligible for prizes, except at the Member - Guest. Please be aware of the B.A.G.S.'s dress code. No collarless shirts or jeans may be worn. Shorts of appropriate length, are perfectly acceptable. All golf clubs must conform to the USGA standards. 2010 Order of Merit: Included in your membership is the Order of Merit competition. Similar to the PGA's leading money leader's list, OOM points are won at each event. There are both net div. and gross/scratch div. points awarded at each event. Based on order of finish in the Net Division and Low Gross Division: 1st place =15 points, 2nd place=12pts., 3rd=9pts, 4th - tenth =7,6,5,4,3,2,1 points respectively. Prizes will be awarded at the end of the season for the top 3 spots, in the form of B.A.G.S.' credits. The winners in each division will also win memberships for the 2011 season.
